GRANTS

Rebuilding Together NYC 
  • Currently only available for veterans and people seeking home modifications for mobility disabilities.

  • Major repairs for households with low to moderate incomes (income limit is $68,700 for a family of 3). 

  • Necessary documents for application for each adult household member: 1040, W2, SS letter, other benefit letters, tenants’ leases, DD form 214 (veterans), 3 paystubs, bank statements, mortgage statement, homeowner insurance

New York Foundation for Senior Citizens
  • Free minor repairs for carpentry, electric system, first floor gutter, masonry, plaster/ceramic, plumbing, weatherization, and winterization. Homeowners pay for materials.

  • Maximum income of $58,451 for a household of 1, $66,801 for a household of 2.

  • Must provide proof of homeownership and income.

  • Applications available at 212-962-7655 or at our office at 3214 Fulton Street in Brooklyn.

The Parodneck Foundation

  • Forgivable loans for all types of repairs. Must be 60+ and have lived in the house for 2+ years. Must have low to moderate income (<$91,680 for a household of 2).

  • No documentation for intake form. If intake form is accepted, application requires (for all household members): photo ID, mortgage statement, homeowner insurance, SS letter, pension letter, paystubs, tenants’ leases, 2 tax returns, bank statements, utility bills (real estate tax, water/sewer, heating fuel, Con Ed, National Grid

Weatherization Program

  • Grant or loan, depending on situation, for heating/cooling issues, hot water issues, insulation, windows, air quality. Household income must be <$44,928 for a family of 3.

  • Necessary documents for application for each adult household member: Pre-application requires none. Full application (available after pre-application) requires for all household members: 3 paystubs, student verification, 1040, W2/1099, benefit letters, pension letters, annuity documentation, tenants’ leases, utility bills, real estate tax info, deed copy

EnergyFit

Free energy upgrades for residents of Cypress Hills/East New York

Offers homeowners and tenants:

energy efficiency retrofits, including insulation/weatherization of the building and installation of energy conservation measures
electrification retrofits, including upgrading electrical panel boxes/wiring and changing out gas stoves for electric induction stoves
Limited to households making 130% Area Median Income ($141,310 for a family of 1, $161,590 for a family of 2)

Available to homeowners of 2- and 3-family homes
